George’s Wealth Pilgrimage – Behaving Congruently… The Principle of Self Responsibility
As much as we might wish, we really have no control over many things in this life.
Right now, we need rain, and we need it urgently. You can bet there are hundreds, probably thousands of farmers right now who are wishing for rain with every fibre of their being. Yet, wish as hard as they might, it’s not going to make it rain.
Many of us also spend our time wishing for more money, better health, better relationships, more holidays and a bigger house or faster car. Yet all our wishing won’t bring any of these things into our lives. The reality is that the very fact we are ‘wishing’ for these things actually repels them from our lives. Because if your life isn’t turning out the way that you want, then the harsh reality is that there is no one to blame but yourself. It’s your life, not someone else’s and only you have the power to make it happen the way you would like.
You see, there are only three things in this life we can control – our thoughts, our mind movies and our actions. The paradox is that when you align your thoughts, your mind movies and your actions in working towards what you desire, you actually will influence outside events. Maybe not directly as we might ‘wish’ for, but in far more subtle and often mysterious ways. How often have you made a decision to follow a particular course of action and the very person you need calls you the next day or you bump in to them on the street or even an email regrading the very topic you are thinking about lands in your inbox? The universe does indeed work in mysterious ways, and your chances of having it work FOR YOU and not against you are dramatically increased if you focus on the things you can control. Your thoughts, your mind movies and your actions.
You need to take responsibility for your own life and the only place to start is by watching what you thinking, what kind of ‘tapes’ or ‘movies’ are running through your head, and what actions are you performing? Are you wishing for more wealth and abundance but condemning wealthy people as ‘crooks’ or ‘rip off merchants’? Because if you’re wishing for more money and more abundance yet internally you feel all rich people are ‘crooks’, you are actually repelling the very success you desire. And the only way to change that is to begin by changing your thoughts. Instead you would need to think of how wonderful it is that a fellow human being has managed to achieve wealth and success and provide employment for others and contribute to the economy. And in the same way, you would need to really picture yourself being wealthy and successful in your ‘mind movies’. And of course you would need to take ACTION! In fact, action in and of itself can lead to a change in mindset.
You see, if you want to be successful but spend your days sitting on the couch doing nothing, it’s not going to happen no matter how positive your thinking or how well you can ‘picture’ yourself being successful.
